Sultan Qaboos University will organise the sixth edition of its international scientific conference titled Language and Literature in Light of Interdisciplinary Studies. The three-day event is scheduled to take place at the university's conference hall and will feature 38 scientific research papers from 12 countries. The conference will be held under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Harrasi, Oman's Minister of Information. It aims to encourage academic discussion on language and literature by connecting these fields with other disciplines and exploring new approaches to research.
The conference will examine how interdisciplinary studies can offer new ways to understand language and literary phenomena. This approach brings together ideas and methods from different academic fields to broaden research perspectives and develop more comprehensive ways of analysing language and literature. Researchers will present studies addressing the relationship between linguistic and literary subjects and other areas of knowledge. The event will feature 38 scientific papers contributed by researchers from 12 countries. The international participation is intended to encourage the exchange of academic knowledge and create opportunities for dialogue among scholars working in language, literature and related disciplines. Over three days, the conference will provide a platform for researchers to present their findings, discuss different approaches and explore opportunities for future academic collaboration.
One of the conference's objectives is to examine how Arab scholarship has engaged with interdisciplinary approaches to language and literature. It will also consider how research in these fields can respond to changes in human knowledge and developments across different sciences. The programme aims to strengthen the study of Arabic through modern scientific approaches while maintaining connections with its linguistic and literary heritage. Researchers will also explore how combining the humanities and natural sciences can contribute to broader academic development at Sultan Qaboos University.
The conference will cover eight themes, including linguistics and interdisciplinary studies, pragmatics and interdisciplinary studies, and the study of signs in the Arabic language and their connections with other fields. Other areas include applied linguistics, grammar, morphology and rhetoric, with attention to how these subjects intersect with different disciplines. The themes are intended to encourage researchers to explore language and literature through varied methods and perspectives.
Another major objective is to encourage dialogue among researchers and support the development of their academic specialisations. The conference seeks to connect established linguistic and literary traditions with modern interdisciplinary research. By bringing scholars together, the event is expected to provide opportunities for exchanging ideas and identifying areas for collaborative work. It also reflects the university's interest in supporting research that responds to contemporary academic and social developments.
The conference forms part of Sultan Qaboos University's efforts to advance research and encourage engagement with international academic developments. Its focus on interdisciplinary study highlights the value of collaboration across different fields of knowledge. Through research presentations and academic discussions, the event aims to contribute to the continued development of language and literature studies, particularly Arabic-language research, while strengthening scholarly exchange between participating countries.
