Aden, Yemen — Two missiles reportedly targeted Aden International Airport in southern Yemen early Wednesday, October 7. Yemen’s security authorities said no casualties were reported following the incident.
Video footage showed explosions in the area around Aden International Airport after Yemen’s Saudi-backed government said the missiles had been launched by Houthi forces. The incident took place as fighting continued to intensify in several parts of Yemen.

Yemen’s Transport Ministry said at least two ballistic missiles and several drones targeted the airport area. One missile landed near the runway shortly before a flight from Cairo was scheduled to arrive, according to the ministry.
Authorities cancelled the planned landing of the incoming Cairo flight and diverted it to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Two aircraft that were on the airport tarmac were also moved away from the affected area as a precaution, according to the Transport Ministry.
The Houthis said they had targeted military supplies arriving at the Badr camp near Aden airport, rather than the civilian airport itself. Their claim could not be independently verified. The airport remains an important international gateway for areas of Yemen outside Houthi control.
The incident comes as fighting has increased between Houthi forces and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces. Government forces, supported by the Saudi-led coalition, have launched operations around the Red Sea coast and the strategically important Bab el-Mandeb area.
The airport incident is part of a wider escalation in Yemen, where developments are also affecting regional transport and security. Saudi authorities separately said they intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile north of Riyadh and another missile threat near Khamis Mushait. The situation remains fluid, with further developments expected.
