Kosovo President Honours Emirates Red Crescent With Medal

Kosovo President Dr. Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu has awarded the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) Authority the Presidential Medal of Merit, recognising its long-standing humanitarian and development work in Kosovo.

The award was received on behalf of the Emirates Red Crescent by Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the ERC Board. The ceremony was attended by Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, ERC Secretary-General, and Dr. Xhabir Hamiti, Ambassador of Kosovo to the United Arab Emirates.

The honour was presented during President Osmani’s official visit to the UAE, where she attended the World Governments Summit in Dubai.

President Osmani praised the UAE for its continued humanitarian support for Kosovo and highlighted the country’s strong solidarity with the Kosovar people. She also appreciated the Emirates Red Crescent’s contributions in healthcare, education, and social services, saying the organisation has played an important role in development, reconstruction, and improving living conditions for many families across Kosovo.

Dr. Hamdan Al Mazrouei said the UAE’s efforts in Kosovo reflect the strong relationship between the two nations and the depth of their long-term ties. He added that the initiatives are part of the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and are being continued under the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

He also conveyed the appreciation of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the ERC Authority, to President Osmani for the honour.

Dr. Al Mazrouei said the Emirates Red Crescent has been active in Kosovo since the early 1990s and continues to run humanitarian and development programmes. He added that these initiatives are part of the UAE’s global humanitarian work, especially in education, healthcare, relief support, and family empowerment, with a focus on sustainable partnerships.
